    Default Aerides lawrenciae

This large to giant sized, warm to hot growing, monopodial epiphyte occurs in the Philippines at elevations up to 500 meters in bright light locations with an elongate stem carrying strap-shaped leaves and blooms on a 2' [60 cm] long, arching, densely many [30] flowered, racemose inflorescence that has heavy, waxy, fragrant, long-lasting flowers occuring in the fall and early winter.(From IOSPE)
It is endemic to the provinces of Cotabato and Davao in the island of Mindanao and the islands of Samar and Leyte.
This plant grows just above my front yard fence, and is a reliable yearly bloomer. The plant and its blooms is perhaps the largest of the Philippine Aerides.

Nice but not an Aer. lawrenciae that excites me, Nelson. Just too much lip on this one for me.

Wow.....this is nifty......It looks like a Rhinoceros with a festive necklace of some kind, like something out of Fantasia. :-D It just makes it cooler that its fragrant.
