    Default bulbophyllum ornithorhynchum, philippines

    hi,

    yet another one im very proud of, was watching the spike for a month from this little monster. at first it had me fooled, during the developing stages it looks identical to antenniferum.
    the name literary translated means "birds beak", well no wonder....

    enjoy,

    That is cool. It is hard to believe it took a month to open. Don't these orchids realize how much we need them to hurry up and put on their show! hehe... Very nice, Ron.

    Cheers,
    BD

    hi randy,
    they usually dont fully open, by saying that, my guy here was stuck in that position for 3 days and i thought thats it! this morning i checked and it continues to open, so i guess i will post more pix soon.
    i took a "peek in the beak" yesterday to see those tiny details, maybe it triggered it.

    @bruce,
    correct, for a bulbo 1 month is a loooong time. good thing is the bloom lasts longer, ahh hopefully!

    btw, i measured the dorsal, its 6 cm long and almost 4 cm wide.

    thanks again for looking!

    Interesting bloom, Ron. It does look like a toucan or a hornbill.
