    Hi San,

your yellow Holcoglossum is great. Do you know more about the place where this plant is from?
Your Holcoglossum subulifolium, I think it's Holcoglossum auriculatum. Is this plant from Malipo, Wenshan near by?

    Regards

    Lanhua

    Hello Lanhua,
The yellow holcoglossum was selected from a lot of wangii only for its yellow bud when I visited an orchid farm in Shunde,Guangdong. Most orchids in this farm are from Yunnan. I am sorry I have no more infomation about this yellow Holcoglossum.
By the way,my Holcoglossum subulifolium is from Hainan. It is a well known Holcoglossum in china. Holcoglossum auriculatum was described by LIU Zhong-Jian in 2005. But in <A FIELD GUIDE TO THE ORCHIDS OF CHINA>,published in 2009,we can not find Holcoglossum auriculatum,as Liu being the author of this book. Actually few difference can be seen between the two Hol. I think at most Holcoglossum auriculatum is a Holcoglossum subulifolium variety distributed in Yunnan.

    Hi San,

my bad luck. I think I know this farm, but did see this Holcoglossum.
I have this book as well and you are right Holc. auriculatum is not displayed there. But also Holc. nujiangense, omoiense, both discovered by Mr. Jin and when I'm not wrong, he is also co author of this book. That they don't mentioned this species, doesn't mean it's same with subulifolium which according to this book is growing in Hainan and not in Malipo Yunnan. By the way it's a nice book, but I'm still missing, many Chinese orchids.

    Hi lanhua,
It is not very often to meet such orchid in blooming. So I think I am lucky enough. I would also say that book is a nice book . You are lucky too, because few people here have Holc. auriculatum. I think meeting you in that farm will be quite interesting.

Holcoglossum auriculatum is for sure a distinct species and not the same like subulifolium.

    The yellow wangii is nice.
