Oh, that is very pretty. Love the vibrant color in the center of the white bloom! Very pretty, Lanhua.

    Hi Lanhua,

Your plant is Trichoglottis rosea var. breviracema, which was originally described from specimens collected in Taiwan. It also occurs in the Philippines.

The "true" T. rosea has cream coloured flowers which are blotched with brownish markings. This species is confused with T. bataanensis a very similar species.

    All the best,

    Hi Jim,
what about Kew list. According to Kew Garden there is just Trichoglottis rosea, var. breviracema is an not valid name. I've also a problem to understand this point of view, because the flowers are really very different. Who has right?

    Regards

    Lanhua

Kew is not the be all, and end all, as far as taxonomy is concerned. What Kew is doing is giving their opinion. We can accept what they say, or we can reject their findings. The final decision is ours.

As far as taxonomy is concerned, no one is right, and no one is wrong. It boils down to ours, or someone elses opinion.

And as a wise old man said to me once "Opinions are like armpits, we all have them, and they are all different."
