Hello, its my first post so please dont judge me yet.
I have this same plant that I got 2 weeks ago. Its bark mix is almost completely broken down, its in need of re-potting badly. Plus the new growths coming out are yellow. Is that bad? Two of the bulbs have the rippled effect on them. I assume lack of water? The bulb with the flowers is very healthy and firm, the flowers are dying to due to its their time to go I think. On one leave there are little black spots at tip. I read that is sun?
currently I have it in an East window on sill with rock tray along with 4 other orchids. It gets really nice morning sun and filtered sun rest of day.
Can someone advise me on these questions please?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cynthia in Ft Worth
(ps.. I am attending my first Orchid Society meeting on Monday 6th so I may get answers then, just thought it may need attending to now..)

Hi Cindy, Welcome to the forum. I have two Pot. AhChung YoYo 'Little Golfish' and I love the rich golden orange & burgundy and the way they cluster. Your orchid looks in reasonably good health to my untrained eye (I just got my first Cattleyas last summer), but it does show some wrinkling. If you suspect that the media is broken down, I would urge you to repot immediately. One of the tricks to orchids is if they look like they are dry and thirsty it could be because they are OR it could be because they are too wet and drowning. I'm still trying to work out the right balance of watering. But I have figured out that broken down media is my worst enemy. (so far)

One of my 'Little Goldfish' I posted about herehttp://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...-goldfish.html I followed Amey's advice and it is sitting rootless, down to 3 growths because the brown one got soft, and I am biding my time hoping it will do something besides give up. The other was still in bloom and looking OK, but in the same broken down media, so I repotted it immediately. It still had decent roots, the blooms lasted another 2 weeks and it is doing fine. Good Luck!

Thank you so much Kassie. I am so glad that I joined this forum. Really great people here. This little orchid is my first catt so I want to treat it right. I did read your other article before this one and that is when I decided I need to do something. I wll repot her right now. I got it locally and they are usually the best of health here. Its just time to repot.
    Best regards

    Smile Potinara much happier re-p0tted

Yes it is a really nice one. I love catts now too. Such cheerful colors. I did re-pot this one into a slightly larger pot with new bark medium and some super thrive to soak in first. Its looking very happy now. Thanks for the help and kind words.
