Default Maxillaria bruunea #1

Got this mini species at the Mt. Baker Orchid Society show a week ago with the two spikes. Both flowers opened on Saturday evening. The photo makes the reddish brown more red-looking than it is in real life. It's a bit less "vivid". Still, it's fun. The flower on the left makes me laugh every time I look at the picture. Makes me think of Bruce Lee leaping down on someone in an exaggerated karate movie, "EEEEYYYYAAA, I leap on you and beat you to submission!" In a flower only the size of a dime, that just strikes me as hilarious.

That is nice. These are rapidly becoming some of my favs too. I might try to get a pic or two up today of a couple of mine blooming now. We could have a blooming Max. festival here.

I like that better than the one I posted....and especially your Bruce Lee analogy of it ! The only max I love is Angel Tang and those that are similar......
