    mine gets direct sun in the afternoon and bulbs shrivel quickly, so i water every day.

    @bruce,
    they do grow rather fast and you can grow up with em!lol
    Maybe the afternoon sun might be too much for the plant. You know how it is here in the Philippines with its very hot afternoon sun.

    How about the good full morning sun until around 10-11 am instead?

    Congrats Derek!

    Ron, I feel your frustration, I have had one for many years which is now enormous and never blooms, I have tried so much to the point where I wonder if there are clones around that just don't bloom ... (the other Ron had mentioned that once)
    I remember Zain on the forum saying he had the same problem.
    Mine grows and grows ... and grows ... at least the foliage is attractive

    hi lambert,
    nice to hear from you!
    well, we can shake hands on this one, same story here. hmmm, that would be shocking with those clones. to add to my frustration, i saw many plants blooming just 2 months ago in manila, where its hotter and dryer, and those had only 3-4 bulbs on it and looked miserable, grrrrr.

    @jojo,
    yes, i have a spot like you suggested, im just waiting for cooler nights, to give it a real good shock. lol

    Fantastic! We haven't looked in here for a while and in our absence we have bought a Coconut Orchid which had been on display in a florist shop- they were getting rid of it as it had been unsold and had finished flowering. So we got it a little bit cheaper, this was about 8 months back and we have kept it fairly dry since then. We need to know when to start watering again and what kind of flowers to expect? I guess your super photo has answered the flower question! We haven't spotted any buds yet but the plant seems very healthy and is making new leaves.
