    These are male C planiceps flowers: not the most attractive of Catasetums. In fact planiceps quite easily shoots their pollen from the plant (you just need to touch the spur).

    The female flowers look even more bizzare:

    Thanks Lars for the confirmation of the sex of the flowers. I have to agree they are not the most attractive of catasetums but do make for interesting conversation piece.
