Wish I could have room to grow more species from this genus. Very nice, Ron.

Lovely, Ron. I like the little clusters of blooms with their tiny orange speckles.

    Cheers,

    Hi Ron,

What differs Trichoglottis rosea from Trichoglottis bataanensis, they have all similar features. Could you give me their descriptions regardless of their own markings and colorations.

I keep on thinking of Trichoglottis breviracema is a Trichoglottis rosea at all in previous photos in Philippine journals.

    Hi Decoy,

The side lobes of Trichoglottis bataanensis point forward for about 3 mm and then curl into a circle. This does not happen with T. rosea. Also the conformation of the floral segments differs considerably between the 2 species. I have never seen a living plant of T. bataanensis, even when I went to Bataan province to search for it, with a number of colleagues. We spent several days there in the forest but all to no avail.

    T. breviracema is, in my opinion, just a white form of T. rosea.

The plant in my book as T. bataanensis is, in fact, T. rosea.

Contact me off the forum Decoy, and I can show you line drawings of T. bataanensis.

    thanks jim for the info!

as for the T. breviracema, i can see differences in the growth habit compared to t.rosea. T. breviracema has smaller, much softer and dark green leaves, although its exposed to vanda light, and the canes are semi round.
still have to wait for the blooms though.

The petals and lip have a unique color combination Ron. And a striking one at that. Beautiful flowers!
