    Default Vanilla noid, philippines

    hi,
    i got this vanilla some time ago and still cant id it. i was only able to catch the bloom during opening and wilting stage, which is within 1 day.
    you can smell it from meters away, but it really stinks if you get your nose in there.

    anyone?

    Ron I wont be able to help with the ID, but its an interesting bloom. Is this a new species?
    I have an ebook by Agoo and in there she has listed only 3 vanilla they are
    Vanilla calopogon Rchb.f.
    Vanilla ovalis Blanco
    Vanilla speciosa Boxall ex Náves

    could well be a new species or a new record from the philippines, just dont know yet.
    thanks for your tips, just couldnt find any pix on it, or no match.

    Hi Ron
    I am only now reading this post so I am not sure as to whether you have already got the Id of this Vanilla.
    If you are a member of AOS their May magazine issue has an excellent article on Vanillas.
    Check out V. dilloniana this looks pretty close to me.

    sorry, im not a member of AOS, but thanks for helping out!
    if the pix in the net are correct, i dont see much resemblence in V. dilloniana, other than colors.
    so, still no id...
