Default English terrestrial orchids in the wild

I spotted these while walking my dog and even though I have no pretensions to being a photographer I wanted to share them, so I did my best. The camera is the one on my phone. They were numerous and growing over a large area. Hope you enjoy as I were quite excited!

Awesome! I'd love to come upon those while out for a stroll.

How wonderful to come upon something so beautiful as a wild orchid. And, your pictures could not have been better! Betty :-)

Beautiful flowers but you didn't give us their name. The individual flowers look a lot like Aerides which obviously they aren't.
I am surprised they are not grown by collectors all over the world.

Thanks everyone - sorry Scrubber, not sure of the name, have found several native British orchids web sites, but several of them look quite similar. I would rather leave them with no name than to give the wrong name. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi,
I just came back from holidays in Scotland and saw some that looked very similar.
They were 'Dactylorhiza purpurella' or 'Northern Marsh Orchids' (even though they were growing in meadows).
Took a few pictures of some other orchids growing in the wild.
Will post them if the quality is OK.
    Krgds,
    Rudy
