    Default Promenea Limelight

I really love this orchid. I bought it a year ago and this is the first time I have seen or had it bloom. It started setting buds in April. Unfortunately only three of about 15 have survived to bloom. I notice there are more starting to develope. I suspect that the buds aborting was due to not enough humidity. If anyone knows of another cause please let me know. As I said I really like this one and would love to develope it into a spieciman size BLOOMING plant. Thanks, Bill

That's a beauty, Bill. I've had a few opportunities recently to add this one to my collection but took a pass. Maybe I should reconsider

    Lovely, Bill, love it!
I had Promenea xanthina 3 years ago and I must admit it was not quite happy in my care. After flowering the leaves began to fall off one after one, at once it lost all it's leaves, it persisted for a while and than had gone.
I tried not to wet the leaves, because apparently does not like that: it likes pretty high humidity - but not too high, but doesn't stand wet leaves, so I stopped misting it and I'd only watering in the medium.
Later on, when it already was gone, I found out
    - it likes cool nights (15 °C or 59 °F) and day temperature around 20 - 22 °C (68 - 72
°F) what I would belive - they grow naturally on trees in the elevated rainforests of
    Brazil
    - it needs heavy shade
    - not to be allowed to dry out for long periods
I saw one this March in Munich's orchid show and I have already held it in my hand but I changed my mind. Now would like to have it again - yours is beautiful.
