    Default Bulbophyllum retusiusculum ??

Species from Vietnam. Individual flower size 1cm.

Here in Europe it is usually incorrectly sold as B. macroleum or B. sulphureum. This is probably a yellow form of B. retusiusculum. Any input much appreciated!

    What a nice speciemen!

A Vietnamese site call it Bulbo. vietnamense. Mine is still labeled as Bulbo. sulphureum(maybe I should put a question mark next to the name). I have not found a reliable source/info to back up such identifications yet. Kew still doesn't recognize Bulbo. vietnamense.
I don't know what the yellow Bulbo. retusiusculum should look like, but this one looks a bit off(plant habit and flower form) compared to the normal Bulbo. retusiusculum.

    Hi Thomas,

It is very difficult to identify these species without being able to see the column and the labellum.

I looked in the most respected book I have on this group of plants, "Notes on Cirrhopetalum" by the late Gunnar Seidenfaden, and there is a species there called Bulbophyllum fibriatum, which closely resembles your plant and it is also from southern Viet Nam.

It is a most beautiful species and superbly grown and photographed.

    All the best,

    Jim Cootes
