This plant is very tricky, you may get confused with its leaves, it is similar to Trichoglottis amesiana.

As what did Jim Cootes described, I noticed that I have a previous photo I got from one of my Trichoglottis collection which is matched the description.

This one I bought is from the flea market in the Lungs Center of the Philippines, one of the orchid vendors out there.

    Hi Decoy,

Have you seen the ligule (narrow tongue-like appendage), which is inside the spur attached to the back wall? If that is there then you certainly do have Trichoglottis bataanensis, which I doubt I have ever seen alive.

I will be in the Philippines this coming August, spending most of my time in Leyte.

Please send me your cell phone number (to my email address) so I can contact you whilst I am there.

I will be in Manila for the opening couple of days of the POS show, before I return home.

    All the best,

    Jim Cootes

The lip is narrow and the side lobes curled back.

This was my archive photos but I am having problems looking over the plant since this time is not the flowering season.

At this time, I am here in Cagayan de Oro and I no longer work in Manila. With regards to my plants, I am also having problems because they are damaged through the travel because our house area was renovated.

That is cool, Decoy! Does it have many blooms or just a few at a time?

    Cheers,
    BD

BD, it is usually the same with Trichoglottis: amesiana, latisepala, mindanense, and rosea.

When I bought this it was freshly gathered and has few flowers and then I take photo with it. Just I noticed that it is different then I asked about the name, the vendor (from Cavite Province - Philippines) did not recognized.

    Hey Jim,

That's cool that you'll be in Manila during the opening days. I hope I get to see you as I intend to watch the show and (possibly) take photos for this forum. I usually attend during weekends as that is the only time I am free from my office work which gets me all tied down during weekdays.

I'll probably just come up and introduce myself to you or give you a slight nudge from behind if I happen to see and recognize you (joking) ... hehehe ....

FYI, I still come across A. Javier occasionally at the garden flea market. I consider her as my (plant-mother) mentor who got me started into orchids way, way back when I was still a freshman in college and knew nothing about them. She was also instrumental in getting and bonding me to a group of orchid hobbyists who were then students like me, who up to now are still my friends after all these years .... some of whom I think you might be familiar with.

Anyway, more power to you and have a nice, safe trip and relaxing holiday here.

    Hi Jojo,

It was a friend of mine, here in Australia, who first introduced me to Mr. and Mrs. Javier in the late 1970s. The friendship blossomed and we still maintain contact.

My time in the Philippines is very restricted this trip. I will arrive on July 31 and next morning I will head off to Tacloban City in Leyte until August 9 when I return to Manila. Next morning I will go to Mindoro for a couple of days before returning to Manila to attend the POS show.

If you do happen to see me at the POS show feel free to come up and have a chat. It is always nice to meet new people.

I will be the old Aussie guy wearing a brown hat, sporting a grey beard and carrying a big Canon camera, probably with a couple of my "ina anak" for company.

    All the best,

    Jim
