    Default Maxillaria tenuifolia

When I saw this orchid, I knew I was buying it even before I knew what shape, color, and scent it might have, because of the fantastic foliage and growth style. (I'm probably one of the rare growers who cares more about the foliage than the blooms.... but I have to admit, the blooms are a nice bonus, as you can see!) The pseudobulbs grow up, stacking on top of the older ones, and it leaves behind a sheath that looks like it was woven or braided by hand. I just love it! This is its first blooming since I bought it, I think last fall.

You are not alone. I belong to the same club. Sometimes I get go wrapped up in canes, foliage and roots, I forget these plants also bloom.

That is really nice. Congrats. I'm still waiting for mine to bloom. I hope it's soon.

I'm not usually a big max fan, but I really love the flower to boot!

No, not at all. I'm not good at describing scents, but it is very pleasant. Given that it is commonly called the 'coconut orchid', someone once made this correlation. At any rate, it is definitely not one of 'rotting flesh' class!
