This is a discussion on Bulbophyllum putidum within the Orchids of Other Genera IN BLOOM forums, part of the Orchid Photography category; Still at the nursery, this is the bulbo putidum. The flower is 3 times longer ...
Still at the nursery, this is the bulbo putidum. The flower is 3 times longer than the Bulbophyllum putidum X Bulbophyllum longissimum.
hmm, i very much doubt that its 3 times longer, that would be close to 1 mtr in length.
i just saw your other post about the cross you mentioned, and i thought it would have the length of b.longissimum.
so yes, this putidum is much longer.
I have this bulbo and hope it blooms again soon.
Hmmm, seriously, i am contemplating whether to buy Bulbo putidum or Bulbo maximum or Bulbo phalaenopsis (this one i really need to find a 5 feet wall to hang) next week when i visit the nursery again.
I say (if you can manage it) get one of each. I love our bulbo phalaenopsis (it was a gift - so thank goodness I did not have to pay for an adult division - very pricey) and the putidum is just so beautiful. The maximum I would need to look up, but if you place it in the ranks between putidum and phalaenopsis bulbos, then it must be pretty amazing. So, my vote is one of each.
