Default Howeara Lava Burst 'Puanani'

Everyone seems to have this one, but it's still kind of cute. This is still a small plant (2 1/2 inch pot), but has bloomed a couple of times the last few months.

Well, I don't have one.

And it *is* really pretty.

Whenever I see these in bloom commercially around here, even at what I consider "good" nurseries, the pbs on them seem shriveled and flat. Is that just normal for this hybrid, or is it bad culture?

Well, I took a look at this one and the pbs are kind of narrow and flat and do have ridges running up them. Maybe that's what you're seeing. I know a good many people rot the roots on these. They do like a really fast draining medium or like being mounted. That little pot is about 1/3 styro peanuts, so it dries quickly.
