I have had examples of this species twice ; those flowers are the size of a saucer - 5-6inches across, and really delightful if they open flatter - which mine did ; but such an easy plant to kill . I never did find out what to give it. There are a few other species in the genus - P.crsitat is said to rather easier, and appears to be even more magnificent in its flowers , but the only time I persuaded a dealer to bring one to to Europe for me, I never got it established at all , so I have given up until I see home seed-raised plants on offer.

Geoff, there is also a primary hybrid of cristata x herrerae available -- at least here in the States. It has tolerated some rather severe neglect from me though one caveat I must add is that it is in a terrarium.
