You won't make that mistake again will you ? Seeing orchids which grab you, take a pic, then not stop to get the name ?
You didn't really think you could find it later, did you ? After all there are only 30,000 species to look at and maybe a quarter of a million hybrids before you can shout "eureka" .
Yeah, you missed a trck. Do better next time.

Thank you, Ron. I really appreciate that since I don't always have time to maintain the thread.

Read the requirements please. To make it easier, post your own, 4" tall or shorter, blooming plants only. I am sure we all have our own ideas but I would like to keep this thread as I intend to...

Thank you, Geoff, Thomas and many others for the contribution to this thread.

Default My latest tiny orchid floweing is Max sophronites

In the Spring, an old orchid friend gave me a good clump of this species – Maxillaria sophronitis, which I divided into two. I put one piece here on a raft of cork, measuring about 12 x 5 inches and it now flowers for the first time – half a dozen buds and flowers now seen. Seems to be growing quite nicely. The flowers measure not quite an inch vertically. A lovely little thing, brightens up a rainy old autumn day here in Southern England.
The other piece I put on a plaque od Epiweb ( I call it a plaque if it is a vertical slab, like a bit of wall or tree trunk , a raft if it floats horizontally). Some like one, some the other. Max. sophro’ seems not to care – the other piece is doing just as nicely, maybe has more two leads from one old bulb than this – in fact when I look at the raft I can see new leads from older, i.e. not leading, bulbs, but no two leads from any bulb. But both are doing nicely thank you.

Ok sorry, I didn't read the 1st page of the thread. I can remove the pics if that keeps the thread neater.

And yes, during that show there were, I don't know, several thousand orchids on display and I only had a couple of hours. Next time I'm going to spend more time there and bring a pen and notepad.

Lily, don't be sorry. I should thank you for posting but I really want to make this thread just a little bit special...

Please don't remove your photos or comments, otherwise people may have hard time to follow/understand.
