    Default Masdevallia decumana

    M. decumana (subsection Caudatae) occurs in Peru and southeastern Ecuador at altitudes around 1400-2100m.

The species name comes from the latin decumanus, meaning of large size and refers to the size of the flower in comparison to the size of the plant. It was first collected in 1979 by Königer.

The flowers have a wingspan of 8cm. The plant grows to about 5cm tall and is best grown in intermediate - cool conditions.
