Bulbophyllum lilacinum is accepted name according to Kew. I found no info on lilaciflorum. Where is that name from, Geoff?
LOL! I guess you really enjoy just typing something regardless it is right or wrong, don't you? and that is fun!
Tom, do you really stop at every orchid name you type, and go to Orchidwiz, or the Kew list or something, and check the spelling? Really ?
After all, spellchecker is no use on these names.
And what is the purpose of a name ; to identify the orchid we are talking about, surely ?
If I say lilaciflorum to the averagely intelligent bulbo' fan, I'd have thought he/she knew the one I meant....and correction might be thought to be ajust a tad pedantic.
Just a thought, or two.
Geoff, you are over reacting to my original post...Sometimes, adding a few different letters to the name can mean two different species.
