    Default Cycnoches Jumbo Puff "Water"

This year, three spikes, 23 flowers. Being grown in a 5 inch pot but here placed inside a 6.5 inch pot with some extra gravel to stop it falling over, and also because the 5 inch pot has very little rim, not enough to engage with my pot hanger, and I want the plant hanging up whilst the flowers are out , for their sake, and mine - so as to see it properly.
No leaves - that's quite correct, they drop them as the bulbs mature and come into flower. In fact if they don't drop them, like some other hybrids , they are a nuisance because they are a bit tatty by this time.
I grow in S/H , but take out of the water as the bulbs mature, only going back in after the new growths have started. This plant - like all my Cycnoches, Catasetums etc in pure coarse Perlite , in fact this plant in there for 3 years now. Maybe I'll give it a bigger pot and splash out extragavantly on a new double-handful of Perlite, come Spring.

It's nice, but a disappointment to me. Why ? Its virtually identical to Cyc. Taiwan Gold "Orchis" which I also have ( 3 plants of ) and which does equally well - but I bought it hoping for something different - see the parents , e.g. in Orchidwiz - one of which is exotically spotted with a flaming orange lip.... which goes to show that some people are never satisfied, you might say.

    Default Cyd not Cyc

Sorry folks - looking at my post, if I got the label right on the plant, when I printed it, this is a Cycnodes, not a Cycnoches ( means there ois a bit of Mormodes somewhere in the background. ) I'll look it up as soon as I can run Orchidwiz, which is on my laptop, currently being charged...

While I fully understand your desire for something a bit different from what your others are, still -- my compliments - on a very well grown plant!
