    hi,
this species was described in 1877 and its unpleasant fragrance is just like pinalia ovata, but much stronger with all those flowers. i've counted at least 3 different fly species on it, several insects and mosquitoes especially at night.

    cheers,

The mozzy, top right, I just don't want to know about ; The beetles bottom left are super - I love the fact that there are more species of beetles in the world than there are all other species of animal life, all added together...If God makes things in his own image, then surely God is a beetle ? I hope no-one finds that blasphemous, and it's not even an original thought on my part - came from some famous philosopher whose name I forget ( such is fame ! ).
But that orange thing, bottom right, I can't even imagine what that is . ( I do love the insects -perhaps I should say invertebrates generally, since i also find spiders etc quite remarkable, and they are not insects . I don't love these things quite as much as orchids - but they are so colourful and lead such amazing lives...
But your orchid quite a showy thing ; repeat flowering I wonder ?

It seems that this beauty has many fans among insects...
I see you're enriching your already beautiful photos with small bonus - I've always agreed that the great joy in small things . A few days ago I also caught by the lens something like your Chewbacca...
    btw, nice species!

Yes - I did mistake the blue-bottle for a beetle . There are some in my garden have that interesting colour - something to do with half-wave reflection I seem to recall. That's my excuse for a misidentifiaction, anyway.
