    Default Masdevallia lucernula

A cool growing species from Peru at around 2200m. Plant size 10cm. Flower size 2cm. From the latin lucernula, "a small lamp".

Only a single flower this time. (seven buds blasted...)

I am so fascinated with these little guys. Sorry to hear the buds blasted, Thomas. Have you any idea why?

The worse I want one of my own plants to hurry and bloom...the faster the spikes rot. Inversely; the plants I neglect and don't watch bloom amazingly. Usually it's too much water, not enough water or the weather turns cold at the wrong second...or it gets too hot. But mostly; it's the plants I beg to bloom that blast.

Really like this one very much. Am sorry that only one bud made it. Great photo as usual.
