Your plant is Macropodanthus cootesii. The sidelobes on the labellum are the distinguishing feature of Macropodanthus cootesii.

Had any luck yet? I understand they are on Panay Island, love to see a pic. if you do find one. I have a small one on cork bark.

Now that is a picture of an orchid I would happily provide a home for ; the original pic merely showed something cvery strange, if interesting , but not beautiful (to me ) ; this is different.
Do get a macro lens, but you should not need one for a shot like this . It may be camera shake which has lost the crispness you would like ; I often use the camera built-in flash for this kind of pic, which will cause the lens to stop down, and give a very short exposure, hence eliminating shake and also serving to separate the pic from the darker under-exposed background.

A PM is a private message, Jay. In your 'Settings' page, if you haven't already done so, you can choose to send and receive messages that are not posted in the public forum. This is a handy way to share information that should not be posted in the public forum or information you do not want internet spiders to add to search engine databases. For example, your email address or home telephone number, etc...

    Cheers,
    BD
