I have a couple of examples of this genus in my collection , it does usually need a close-up to be able to appreciate them. I imagine the complete spike is appearing more or less true size on my 48cm monitor screen , i.e. about 10-12 cm length of the actual flowering part ?

It's sounds good, because not so many collectors like this genus, bacause some of them become very big. I've also a couple of examples, but still looking for another one. Do you have some for exchange?
You are right the flowering part is around 12 cm long.

Here are pics - not as big close-ups as yours I am afraid, from their 2010 flowerings. Mooreana got a bit leggy and I cut off the top few inches with a few aerial roots and potted it up ( the remnant did not grow, and is on the compost heap); it seems to be branching in more than 1 place - eventually there will be a piece big enough to take off, but not this year, I think. Spathulata seems to be growing quite well, recovering from a leading leaf getting burnt during an overheating episode last Spring, but shows no sign of branching ; however it is a bigger plantwith aerial roots along its length so I might be able to try a top cutting....I will try and remember to have a good look when I next overhaul that complete line of hanging plants.
