    Default Bulbophyllum macranthum

The flower is not typical for Bulbophyllum macranthum but have some similarity as the leaf is even bigger and thicker. The stripes on the petals is so intense as compare to normal macranthum. Could it be another variation or new species Native to Borneo.

Yeah that's defiantly a different flower. I use to have macranthum up till around a year ago I think and the flower wasn't that intense in color.

Could this be Bulbophyllum praetervisum ?. Last year i was in Tenom Agri Park ( sabah malaysia) I saw a similar flower. To check this out is to look from behind the flower, to see if it does has the hook-like structure between the 2 dorsal sepals.( This is what Dr J.J. Vermeulen relate to us while there) .

Nice dark orchid bloom, Zain. Were you able to check to see if the hook structure that Martin mentions is present on this orchid's flower?

    Cheers,
    BD

Martin thanks for your valuable info really appreciate it.
Bruce there was a hook in between the 2 dorsal sepals that I always observed, apparently the flower already wilt. I will post again because this species is considered free flowering here.Zain

But It seems B. macranthum also have the same hook. I will load up the photos of Bulbophyllum praetervisum later which described as an Overlooked Species close to B. Macranthum.

Salam En. Zainal, This is a very interesting species because the flower is upside down (labellum is on top). I have B. macrantum and it is very fragrance. Thanks for sharing.
