Tricoglottis philipinensis

    Default Tricoglottis philipinensis

    I have had this for almost a year and it has never stopped blooming. Love this guy.

    Hi Mazlan,

    I doubt that your plant is Trichoglottis philippinensis because the shape of the labellum is totally wrong. The labellum of Trichoglottis philippinensis is in the shape of a cross or cricifix which yours clearly isn't. Also the size of the leaves look way too large.

    Beautiful color...Great orchid plant, whatever it is Mazian. I love orchids when they bloom a lot...especially when they are fragrant. Is this one fragrant? Betty :-)

    Thanks Jim for the comment. Really appreciate it. This ID was what written on the label when I got it. Would appreciate if anybody can help me out on this.

    I think it might be a hybrid too. The lip looks very much like T. smithii.

    The greenish yellow edge of the petals tells that T. philipinensis is in the blood, but with such intense color, it might have T. brachiata in the blood too. T. smithii should give it the lip shape and longer leaves too.
