    Subsection Caudatae.

    This species is found in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at altitudes of 500-2300m.The flowers are 2.5 - 3cm wide and the tails around 4 - 5cm long. Leaf size 10cm. Intermediate - cool conditions.

    Absolutely stunning. I have never seen a Masd. blossom that close. I often wondered about the lip and petals. Although the lip is certainly discernable as an orchid lip, complete with column, the petals are absolutely foreign. Thank you so much for that picture.
