    What a extraordinary orchid. I am not familiar with Habenaria's. The actual plants growth habit reminds me of Gingers. AL

    There are quite a few "whiskered" Habenarias, although few quite as extreme as this. Some are said to be hardy outside in UK, and one of our general plant nurseries ( not an orchid firm at all) even gives away a few tubers of this if you spend enough. I have tried them once, but the so-called tubers were about as big as small grains oif rice, and nothing ever broke the surface of the soil. I don't know if all the habenarias are as bad .Sometimes the reason for a plant being rare is that it is rather impossible to grow !

    so beautiful! I have one Habenaria spp at home, a gift frm friend.hopefully it will live,mature and bloom beautifully as this one
