Default Tolumnia Shannon Elizabeth 'Pink Angel"

I have a lot of Tolumnias out now , but mostly as branches developing from old spikes ; there a few new ones, this is the first. There is a delicate pale flush of pink on the white parts, but it doesn;t show too well in the pic.

Just lovely, Geoff. I have killed both of the Tolumnia orchids I have tried to grow. I need to get another and try mounting it instead of potting it. Maybe that would help.

    Cheers,
    BD

I don't succeed well with mounts, but if you do, Bruce, its worth a try. Of course the parent species are twig epiphytes, which are always difficult -they like to be soaked every night, and dry out completely every day !

I have the problem of them drying out completely every day when potted. When mounted, it should be easier.

I have all of mine hanging up - I have wires running the length of the greenhouse, sufficiently high so that I don't bump my head on the pots ( the younger generation - well over 6 foot - have to duck !) and this gives them extra light and I suppose also gets them to dry out quicker than if on the bench . The fact that theyy are in 2 inch and 3 inch pots also helps - there's not much else I would risk in such small pots because of the rapid drying, but I guess it helps here.

If anyone needs to ensure plants dry out - - - send 'em over here to the nice dry desert. I'll be happy to help you out!
