    I love the flowers!

    The artificial lawns are becoming popular in the southwestern U.S., as people try to limit water consumption. I must admit, though, that I really like the real stuff (even though I am the one who mows it!) because it's cooler than xeriscaping. Now, if the artificial turf contributed to humidity and coolness, it might be tempting...

    About thirty years ago, we were in drought conditions. There were a few areas in town that actually did use a spray paint over the dead grass to look like they were still alive. These were city-maintained areas - traffic dividers and the like. We all thought it was pretty funny.
