    Cool NOID Myrmecophila aka Schomburgkia

I recently saw a plant nearly identical to mine and it was a cross between a Thomsoniana and Tibicinis. I tried to see if there was a registered cross and couldn't find one. I hope these little flowers stay open for awhile. Also; I found an opening in one of the p-bulbs where the ants are living. Apparently it isn't bad for this plant. The droplets are orchid honey. Shortly before the buds began opening the drops of orchid honey began appearing all over the buds, flowers and spike.

Love your bloom. Really cool about the ants you discovered. I have read that ants form colonies in the bulbs of these and become very protective of what is now their territory. It is nature's way of protecting the plant. In the wild the ants will attack any preditor that comes near.

When a supposedly "difficult" plant blooms for me...I don't care either. I may have to make one up for it.

I love the lip! And the and living inside a plant is such a cool idea! I wonder if the ants would be so attracted to that plant that they would stay away from others. I keep hummingbird feeders out on my balcony where my plants summer and worry about them bringing in pests.

Obviously a healthy plant and the colors on this are a wonder. Tell the ants that if they keep up the good work you and them can look forward to many happy years together, but absolutely no slacking off on the job. AL
