Very well-grown plant, Shane. Sounds like the influence of Gram measuresianum Which has deformed flowers in the bottom few rows of flowers. But that's OK since you are going to have tons of normal flowers after that.

I am glad Shane that as Yew said and I am sure its true that you will have hundreds of normal flowers coming up very soon now. This makes the subject of the blooms without lips rather 'mute' don't you think? AL

Whether fused or mute, is rather a moot point here as you will soon have all those gorgeous blooms soon.

Love seeing yours and am anxious to see it in full-bloom. I have a smaller plant that is just starting to spike. Hope it eventually will put on the show that yours is about to do. Would love hearing any tips on cultivation from you. Thanks again for sharing.

I find that deformed flowers often come before a plant is full grown, or after repotting before it settles down again ; but certainly some orchids are more prone than others ( big yellow or white strap-leaved Vandas often do it , I find, and the big blue and red are so much easier and hardly ever do it.). And then again, some always do it - I have thrown away every one from a flask of five seedlings of a certain famous Phrag, when they bloomed distorted every time.
