Oh my goodness. If those two plants are the same species I'll give orchid studies away forever. Those people at Kew need to look at living plants, and stop sniffing the poisons used to preserve the dried specimens.

    and more info on B.minutissimum:
Plant is still smaller, carries its leaves (those tiny hooks) while flowering and has hairs on the peduncle and ovary.

It shows that here are some confusions around this Bulbo...While I'm looking online for results of Bulbophyllum minutissimum, generally show up images of Bulbophyllum moniliforme and even Iospe photos offers me like this:
    IOSPE PHOTOS
Tnx Jim and tnx Ron for info, the differences are obvious and I think those people at Kew and Iospe photos must be warned to this chaos....as I think they are the main culprit for this situation.

And tnx to the orhers for all your comments!

He still needs the chop though.....cmon! classing Sophronitis coccinea as Cattleya?! all because a very small population was found in a slightly warmer habitat than it usually lives in? there have been no other recorded sightings, so they cant justify the move.

That guy just changes willy-nilly. Chop 'em i say.

    Thanks for sharing too Branka!

we all get easily misguided by wrong info, pix etc in the net! to avoid all this confusion, i think a forum is a pretty good media to discuss and share info among growers and experts.
so much depends on opinions though, but as this example shows, even us amateurs can be easily convinced!

so keep your minds open fellas!

Question ;if I need a magnifying glass to even find the orchid plant on the mount, does it deserve a place in my collection ? I am not aiming to grow every orchid in the book, or to have a sort of 19th century "cabinet of curiosities". I think I know my own answer.

No criticism of anyone is intended, whatever they grow, you understand... just thinking aloud, really.
