    Default Bulbophyllum minutissimum

One of the smallest sized orchid of the Bulbophyllum...It was quite difficult to make a good shot as the flower size is about 3/16" (1 mm):

Cool looking growth habit, like a string of beads. That is a tiny flower! You did a good job with the close up.

Bulbophyllum minutissimum is an Australian endemic and the illustrated plant is not this species. Your plant appears to be Bulbophyllum moniliforme from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

    Cute in any event.
My understanding is this type can be quite challenging to keep happy.

Ive checked it out, and there appears to be very little difference between the two, infact, if i didnt know about their distribution, i would think they were one in the same! I think Brankas do resemble Bulbophyllum minutissimum to an extent as opposed to the Bulbophyllum moniliforme.

Mind you we could argue this for hours. I for one would rather appreciate the simplistic beauty of this delightful little species.

It is plainly obvious that you have never seen a plant of Bulbophyllum minutissimum.

    Tnx Jim for info!
I've never seen this one in situ, and I never had the opportunity to compare both species together in order to see the difference.
It often happens that purchased orchid is not what I was looking for, but something else and I can notice that only when the plant is blooming.
I'm checking names on the World Checklist, and the Kew checklist says:
World Checklist of Selected Plant Families: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
