Red face Catasetum pileatum 'Icy Green'

Cstm pileatum has ,arguably, the largest flower of the catasetums. This particular pileatum measures nearly 4 ins across (10 cm). In Malaysia this seems to be the blooming season for catasetums. My pink variety would have flowered at the same time if the spike had not been eaten by snails. Luckily another spike has formed and is now about 3 ins.. 2 other catasetums will soon be blooming too.

That's a good spike for pileatum ( good flower count). And what an amazing species for the variation in colour available - all the way from crimson to gold , via ice green. I love these things.
