This is our first post and we are situated in the Caribbean Island of Grenada. We were drawn to the site when we were looking for photos of the Grammatophyllum scriptum. Ours is in bloom for the second time and looking quite spectacular. I will try and attach a photo.

Welcome to the Forum. I am always happy to see other Caribbean nationals join.
Your Gram. scriptum is beautiful. I cannot quite see what you have it potted in. I can tell you that they grow into 'humonguos' plants in avery short time. I have found through my own plant and from other growers here in Barbados that they seem to do rather well if potted up in a basket with a FEW coconut shells where their very fine roots will grow in the open.
good luck with yours, and welcome again.

Default Gram. scripyum var. citrum in baskets

I just remembered that I had posted these before in response to how I grew mine.
These pics. were taken about 10 months ago when they were in the basket for about 6 months.

Thanks for the welcome and for the additional information. Looks like I resized the photo too much. The gram came in a clay pot. The roots soon covered that completely and then I put it in a basket. They are now covering the basket.

For some reason it has not bloomed this year as yet. I am still hopeful because last year's bloom was in July.
My own experience, generally speaking - meaning not speifically with this orchid, but with many orchids - is that after a stunning display, a plant needs time to recuperate before it will flower again, and maybe several years before it is ready to put on a tremendous show.

Believe it or not, beneath all those roots is a wire basket with just a few coconut shells. the roots and Psbs. have completely covered the basket.

Surprise ! surprise! I was watering this morning, and lo and behold 5 spikes appeared before my eyes. I guess he overheard me talking to you and decided it was time to shape up. LOl. It will take about another month, maybe more before the flowers open but I will surely keep you posted.
