    Default catasetum Gerhard Lieste (ctsm jumbo pearl x pileatum)

    from seedling and finally flowered, first spike, three flowers, first pic is the male flower, the second is the hermaphrodite and the third pic is the close up on the hermaphrodite showing the presence of the pollen cap with the trigger pollina. no pollen underneath after triggering.
    registered 8th July 2006. flower about near to 3 inches in width with slight fragrance as usual. the color of the sepals are non as dark as depicted in the picture.

    Congrats Ian, for blooming this cross. Also congrats for recording the hermaphrodite flowers. I like this cross with the white fimbriated lip against the burgundy colour of the rest of the flower.

    thanks mr Zainal, so far i had about 30 different catasetums and about 15 are hybrids. not all the catasetums i had the picture with me because some i bought back as cuttings. all the pics u had loaded in my flickr page

    What splendid blooms. The male Catasetum is so beautifully showy and frilled. The hermaphrodite is so smooth and has a great curvature to it. Can't say enough good things about these. AL

    Love the coloration of the male flower! The hermaphorodite is interesting.
