I'm printing this picture out and showing it to my Arachnis plants out back! Then i'm showing them the sick pile of orchids and threaten them with the trash can. Maybe that will get them blooming. lol Your flowers are amazing! Thanks for the pics.

Abiom, we oldtimers used to refer to the plant in your picture as Arachnis flos-aeris var insignis and the other as var gracilis ( the barred one that looks very much like Arachnis Maggie Ooi and often mistaken for one). A well-grown flos-aeris var insignis can produce spikes to more than 4 feet long. However it is quite seasonal. Am trying to collect back some of the old Malayan crosses like Miss Joaquim and the var Josephine, var Douglas and Popoe Diana; also Arachnis flos-aeris and hybrids like Maingayi, Maggie Ooi var ' Red Ribbon' and 'Yellow Ribbon'. Yesterday visited a friend and was delighted to find that he had a clump of V (Papilionanthe) Amy in his garden and got 2 top cuttings of it. V Amy is less well-known than V Miss Joaquim but, in my opinion, is prettier and daintier with a gorgeous lip from one its parents V tricuspidata.
