This is one have spent a while looking for.
Has large deeply coloured maroon almost mahogany flowers going green towards the edges and a massive dark red lip it is also very fragrant in a pleasent way.
Thanks Cathy i have been looking for one for a while as Emma likes them
Very nice!.. I just got this one last week, and I love it. Oh by the way its actually a Zygolum (Zygopetalum x Zygosepalum).. How is the fragrance on yours? mine only has a scent in the morning to mid afternoon, but has no fragrance at night; its also not as strong as a pure zygopetalum fragrance (which i find myself allergic to )... regardless yours is lovely
Love it. I must admit I'm more a Vanda person, but I like this one. Very pretty. Hope it will flower often for you.
You just have to love the color of Zygos.
I bought a Hamelwellsara June "Indigo Sue". Its not growing, really. I've had it for about a year and it has put out a new lead...and that is it.
I've kept it next to one of the fountains outside and it is mounted. Trying to keep it cooler. I knew when I bought it that it would not like the FL heat.
I would LOVE a hamelwellsara....unfortunately, the only types i can buy in the shop are phals phals, and did i mention phals?
Apparently, any zygo and hybrid/intergeneric that carries the scent of the the zygo smells great to women, but apparently us males hate the smell!
Hi pk93 the smell is a bit over powering its like someone has sprayed way too much aerosol thats how much it gets your throat. Its 11pm here now and the fragrance is still as potent. Good job it pleasurable
yes that must be what it is about the scent of zygos, every time that i am near one i start sneezing.. Jason-uk thats definitely the smell of a zygo >_<... fortunately mine only has a slight fragrance.
Well it earns its money now as i no longer need to buy air fresheners.
PS another flower is starting to open i was going to time lapse it but i cant find my tripod and have the oddest feeling i left it in my old car which i sold three weeks ago
