Such a cute bloom on this bulbo orchid. They do look like little shoes.

    cheers,

There is a major bulbophyllum hybridizer that is in my little community of Valrico. I've never been to his nursery. I think I might stop by and take a look.

Herewith a pic of the complete plant - actually two plants - growing on a slab of synthetic tree-fern fibre, sold in UK as "epiweb" . Seems to go slimy with mould when regularly sprayed - so not sure that I will continue with this- maybe shift it to a piece of cork bark. However you will see sizes from the rule included.

BTW - "can they get much bigger" - well, one can wish ... but they are very slow growing ! Come back , say mid-century - and I'll answer - if I am still around (a bit unlikely, that ! )

Geoff; Thank you for your new posts and photo of the Bulbophyllum frostii. The tape measure was of great help. Definitely want this orchid, slow as it may be as a grower. BTW, I seriously doubt I will be of this earth mid-century either, unless of course they can replace 90% of my body parts with bionics, etc. by then. With my luck the only original parts left will be my toe nails. AL
