    Default Masdevallia pteroglossa

    Subsection Oscillantes.

    This species is known only from the western Cordillera of Colombia, 1600-1800m.

    It was first collected by Consul Lehmann in 1883 in the Department of
    Cauca, Colombia, but it was not published until 1920 by Schlechter.

    Plant size 3-4cm. The flowers are 1cm wide with 3cm long tails. Intermediate-cool conditions.

    I love the different shots of this healthy orchid plant and beautiful blooms. Seeing the plant is an inspiration. Thanks so much. I so wish I could grow Masdevallia orchids like this.

    Is the pollinator a fly? It looks like there is a tiny fly and that is how one of my cactus is pollinated that also has that feature. Very cool flower!
