My first success with this genus ; I have bought plants in flower and lost them, and generally thought them nice but difficult ; but a few years ago I boiught a few seedlings pf various species including this one. Then spent a couple of years playing about with different composts/pots/mounts and then locations, and a year or so ago this one in particular really started to grow and produce new leaves , then the two keikis seen. And then recently these six spikes ( all on the original growth - none on the keikis yet ). About 28 buds and flowers - I do hope it will last a week , we have our Autumn (Fall to you - ) show on 24th .
According to IOSPE 4-8 flowers is the norm, perspike, but I suppose a first flowering will be at the bottom end of the scale, anyway. Also according IOSPE it has the charming habit of repeat flowering from the same node for years - being unique in the genus in this respect ... I like it more and more !.
Here seen in a six inch ( nominal) basket ; flowers perhaps 2cm across.

How satisfying that must be! The plant is both lovely and interesting, and I truly admire your patience and persistence. I'm encouraging Mother Nature to time your blooms appropriately - this one certainly deserves an award, as do you.
