    Default Satyrium odorum-3rd place!

This is my third place It is an interesting species from South Africa, and is the member of the genus Satyrium with around 20 species. It is related to the European genus' such as Dactylorhiza and Orchis, with small 3cm long blooms. The ovary is hollow, and is almost as big as the bloom! The blooms also smell like cloves, and is pleasant

Jordan, how this African species came to New Zealand, so far away. Congratulation for your award.

Congrats, Jordan - awards are fun, aren't they? That's one funny little plant - "odorum" - so what does it smell like?

Thanks everyone, Maura, the plant has no smell lol, but the blooms smell overwhelmingly like cloves or stock flowers!

Getting into semantics and splitting hairs are we? Fair enough - and I'm jealous of the scent, too.

Lovely plant! Never seen one. Good job on the pictures! The detail of placing one alone helps a lot. And the award is very nice too. Was it in a show?
    FOLKS, THIS IS A 16 Y/O!
