    Default Habenaria rhodocheila - orange-red

I know Cxcanh has just posted pictures of several colour variants of Habenaria rhodocheila including this orange-red form. They come in pink, yellow orange and ornage-red and an alba form as well. Mine is the orange-red form and is quite attractive. The flowers are 1 1/2 in x 1 in in size. This particular plant originates from Thailand.

Very nice, Yew - gorgeous photos, as usual. Phillip had a Habenaria - a seedling, really, and decided he really didn't like the look of the leaves, so, unbeknownst to me, he stopped watering it and let it expire. Now that I see yours and cxcanh's, I really regret not having taken it over!

Thanks Abiom. I grow it in a mixture of small cubes (1/2 inch) of coconut husk, coarse river sand and a top dressing of chopped fern roots. A friend of mine grows them in good friable loam.
