Just a beautiful plant that is so well grown.
Cathy, you do need good humidity to grow these but more importantly they need good quality water. My well water is excellent(low TDS, ~80ppm and 6.5PH). Humidity is never an issue for my growing area. Ocationally during the warmer months I have to use dehumidifier to get the humidity down(I live in slower and lower Delaware, in the woods, behind a big mill-pond and two miles from the bay. The house is only 33 feet above sea level). The only special thing I do(for warm growers) is to enclose the warm growing area with plastic in winter so that it is a couple degrees warmer with heat of the light...

I used to have a second-hand orchidariarium but it didn't work as well as I would expected...Do you need a special set-ups to grow some of those? yes, you do if your natural growing condition does not meet their basic growing requirements.

Tom, I am pretty seen these grown on clay cylinders that are kept filled with water. If I remember correctly the cylinders leached just enough water and kept humidity high.

The well water is what I would be lacking. The water that I have is pretty hard and laden with chemical additives.

If you have ever shown pictures of your grow area I don't remember? I think it would be a great inspiration to myself and others.

Cathy, very few people have luck with that clay cylinders thing for long run unless you put it in a special set-up or a cool/intermediate greenhouse with good humidity.

I have posted some pictures of my basement set-up here and another forum but that was long time ago. Those pictures were not even current then. Do I want to post another set of pictures? No. It gets more complicated...
