Default cymbidium in spike to bloom

First there's this little surprise. The wee flower spike made an appearance from the divided cym from last Summer. Totally unexpected, when I first saw the little bump down there I thought it was a new bulb growing, I didn't expect a flower spike this soon, small though it be.

This is the last the birthday buying binge, I still haven't figured out a permanent home for it but so far it's thriving and no, it doesn't live on the floor where I took a photo of it.

Very, very nice. I keep waiting for mine to do something, but so far nothing. You will have to tell me your secret.

Lovely color. Unfortunately for me, not only do most cyms get far too big, but supplying their temperature needs is generally beyond me.

Thanks everyone - I have no advice, I'm the most neglectful plant owner in the world, I throw water on them once a week, try to remember to fertilize them, at least once a month, only because it dawns on me I haven't done so in too long. They all sit in one of three window spaces, one of which is quite cold, cold coming from the bottom, drafty windows. The two other windows are newer so they are tighter and not drafty but they have that UV coating on them.

Pavel, I don't understand, Michigan is not all that much different from Massachusetts, well it is colder for a little bit longer and greyer in the winter but my late husband was a MI bred man and he didn't find the climate here that much different from there.
