    Default another Ceratocentron fesseli

I spotted this species when looking at the list of plants which a certain Phillipines nursery was taking to Germany at a show earlier this year ( I look them up on IOSPE to decide which to buy), and which they would post to me ; they won't come to UK because of our daft interpretation of CITES but its legal if they ship inside the EU. So I bought one.
When it came I asked for advice here, but obviously none of the folk who could have told me saw my posting . But I was a bit pessimistic, certainly said to myself - well that was a waste of money... I did not expect to be able to keep it alive. A little scrap of a thing, two leaves, each an inch long, and a couple of tiny roots - just enough to tie it on to a piece of branch I found in the forest where I live.
But it grew and prospered and now has a flower.
Two curiosities to point out ; first in bud, with the flower tantalisingly half open for a week, the flower was buttercup yellow ( sorry - I guess some people don't have buttercups in the fields ! ) let's just say a definite yellow, and although on the warmer side, nowhere near orange. And then today it opened fully and turned the colour you see ( vermilion ? )
Second, see one of the pics - the flower stem emerges from within a sheath, which has leaflets or bracts - when it started to grow I wondered if it was an extending rhizome to form another growth - but this is a monopodial, so that had me puzzled. I guess more buds could and maybe even will emerge from within that.
I know from other postings that this is a poor show - only one flower , and Tom at least has shown a whole bunch of flowers - but hey, I'm on the way , and that for me is a little triumph. My Christmas present from my greenhouse, I call it.
