I happened to have Orchidwiz open on my 2nd monitor - looking up Maura's Ahmad Sheikhi , so I looked this one up for you :

Brassavola nodosa x Encyc. tampensis =Encycvola ( abb. Eyv) Gordon Vickers.

( another horrid and quite unmemorable generic name -"Evy" - I much prefer "Bepi" [groans] but I expect I will get used to it, if it sticks around long enough without being changed for the umpteenth time this week....)

    Cheers,

I used to have yellow bird...they are such a pretty flower. I split it and gave a friend a piece...mine died while her's is thriving and bloomed nicely for her this summer. I need to have her give me a piece back. lol

Thanks. It's curious that B. nodosa has no spots, and yet when crossed with another orchid with no spots, the cross is often spotted. I have a bepi that's a cross between nodosa and epi cochleata that has two budstalks on it now. I'll post images when it blooms.

I had never thought about that...very interesting too. Two no spot parents...offspring covered with spots. Hmm... And it's funny because I haven't bloomed either of the parents, yet this one blooms on a regular basis. lol The Nodosa I recently posted was bought in spike. My Tampense has never bloomed and i've had it for 3 or 4 years. lol
